Across the country, people are struggling to find a mental health provider. The National Alliance on Mental Illness states that 55% of U.S. counties do not have a single practicing psychiatrist, and 134 million people live in an area of the country that the U.S. government has designated as a mental health professional shortage area. AppIt worked alongside a team of wellness and behavioral health professionals to design and develop a mobile app that would serve the LGBTQ+ community in a new way. The You:Flourish app offers access to vetted mental and behavioral health professionals for members of the LGBTQ+ community regardless of their location or financial situation. Additionally, the app provides a virtual space for healing and wellness through a supportive network of peers and reliable information.
The You:Flourish project included the design and development of a mobile and a web app, as well as technology consulting. The You:Flourish app addresses significant barriers head-on by finding vetted mental health professionals in the LGBTQ+ community to affirm their identity and life experiences with trained providers. Additionally, it will help them find powerful wellness content created by people in our community and provide a Resource Library that finds expert-vetted, community-informed, and identity-relevant resources.
The You:Flourish mobile app successfully launched in the spring of 2024, and has since received recognition by the Denver Business Journal and Built In Colorado. Since launching, You:Flourish has secured a grant from the State of Colorado to invest further in improving the app's reach and functionality.
"We are impressed with their commitment to building technology solutions that produce positive outcomes for society."
