As the owner of two large dogs, two small cats, and a fish, perhaps it shouldn’t come as a surprise that Kerrie Midkiff, Quality Assurance Engineer for AppIt Ventures, also likes bugs. More precisely, she likes finding bugs—those pesky digital glitches that show up from time to time in the world of custom software and app development and need to be eradicated.
Not only is Kerrie a veteran quality assurance expert with many years of software testing to her credit, she is a stickler for ensuring that every AppIt product meets the stated requirements and delivers an outstanding user experience. “It’s the nature of software development that bugs can present from time to time,” she explains, “and my job is to prevent those issues and mitigate them when they do show up.”
Kerrie was born in Colorado, but spent her formative years growing up abroad due to her father taking a job in England. After graduating from college back in the States, she leveraged her elementary education degree testing software for seven years in the travel and educational technology industries—a perfect springboard into the world of custom app development.
“I love what we do here at AppIt,” says Kerrie. “The work is always changing and there are new and exciting challenges every day. Quality assurance can sometimes be monotonous, but not here. It's always a challenging and fun environment.”
Outside of work, Kerrie enjoys spending time with her daughter, hiking with her dogs, gardening, and reading. Especially reading—and not like an occasional novel here and there. More like next-level, 120 books a year kind of reading. “I guess that qualifies me as an avid reader,” she muses.
Kerrie knows AppIt clients experience tremendous peace of mind knowing she is lending a critical eye to their projects and ensuring the final product is the best it can be. “When we are able to deliver really good documentation to customers about what we did and how we did it, it gives them great assurance and tremendous peace of mind.”
